About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

nice knife September 6, 2008 A. Kevy (Alameda, CA United States) Good knife at a nice price. I got this knife for my cub scout and he really likes it. Good variety of blades. Also good for someone who is learning how to use a knife and knife safety.
Victorinox Swiss Army Camper with Microlight Set March 6, 2008 R. Becker (Smithville, OH) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A good quality knife with the tools I need in it without being oversized. When I lost the one I'd had for over twenty years, I tried a few others, but then I knew this was the one I wanted again. The microlight was an extra that will come in handy. Great value for the price.
The old stand by stands by January 19, 2008 John Monahan (Cheeseheadland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this as a replacement for the one I lost. I bought that in 1978, as a young Army officer stationed in Germany. I needed the corkscrew! And the saw, and the awl, and the big blade and the toothpick. Small efficient and trustworthy. What more can you say?
Handy and Useful December 3, 2007 Jan Howard (Titusville, FL USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I ordered several Swiss Army knives for stocking stuffers. However, I ordered this Knife and flashlight for myself. I love it! I attached the flashlight to my car keys. It's nice to have a bright but tiny flashlight with me all the time.
