Product Description
Indi's only rule: never date a driver. Todd's new rule: win a date with Indi. Good thing rules were meant to be broken . . .

Indi Wilcox has a bad track record with race-care drivers -- and the skid marks on her heart prove it. So when she's forced to team up with Todd Peters, NASCAR's number one bad boy, to grant the wish of a terminally ill child, she vows to keep things professional.

Todd isn t sure what he thinks about the new Miracles caseworker. Except that she's gorgeous . . . and steaming mad. Not that he blames her. He accidentally let down one of her kids. Determined to prove to Indi that he's not just another spoiled NASCAR star, Todd sets out to make things right. With every combustible moment they share, deeper feelings take over. Giving up total control might be the scariest -- or the best -- risk they ever take.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointed with this one   October 10, 2008
Colleen Laughlin (Florida)
I have enjoyed all of Britton's NASCAR books and this one was not bad, but it was no where near as good as her other books. I agree with the previous poster when asking where was the romance? It didn't exist! The majority of the book focused on Benjamin's sickness (which is fine and dandy) and Indi fighting her feelings for Todd. I found myself frustrated throughout the entire book by Indi. When I finally thought they were going to get together, she would muck it up again. And then the end, talk about rushed! How did that happen? Plus, no epilogue - I didn't like that very much (she always has an epilogue). But, I still give the story 3 stars because it was heartwarming reading about Benjamin and his family. But the romance was a big fat ZERO.

3 out of 5 stars Where was the romance?   April 12, 2008
J. Bennett (Manila, AR)
I thought this was a good story about a sick child and a decent story about NASCAR racing. It was however NOT a good romance. There was almost no interaction between romantic couple. The love scenes did not exsist at all. The author should have spent less time describing the childs' illness and including ALL details of the car races and more time focused on the love story. If it had not been labeled a romance at all I might have enjoyed it more as it was well written. The problem was I kept waiting for the relationship to develop in vain. The end seemed so rushed and I left this book thinking it could have been a keeper with just a little more effort by Britton. I gave it 3 stars because you do fall in love with the boy and I did enjoy his story. Based on the love story alone it would have been a 1 star!

4 out of 5 stars Tear Jerker   January 28, 2008
Samantha L. Sayre (WV United States)
Just a warning, this book is a tear jerker. The romance is there but it's not in full force like the other Nascar romance books in this series. The lead character in this book is a 10 year old little boy with cancer that wants a wish granted with a Nascar driver. It helps if you've read the other books in the series so that you already know who Todd Peters is and the other surrounding characters that are mentioned in the books. Ms. Britton gives some updates on the other couples in the series. I love how she told you about a driver's life off the track and the events they attend. She really got into the driver's head about his off time and how he handles all the functions going on. Ms. Britton really didn't go into the wish foundation charity. Not sure if she didn't know anyone from that area or not. I thought it was interesting how she brought in a fictional Victory Junction camp and then stated that proceeds from buying the book would go there. That would be enough for me to buy this book. It's a quick enjoyable read.

5 out of 5 stars Total Control   January 19, 2008

Indy Wilcox works for Miracles, a charity that helps ill children fulfill their dreams. Todd Peters is a NASCAR driver and young Benjamin Koch's idol. Todd's busy schedule caused him to miss two meeting with Benjamin so Indy tracks him down and gives him hell for it. Once Todd realizes what he's done, he tries to make amends. Benjamin is thrilled with his efforts, unfortunately Indy isn't. She's falling for Todd but she's been hurt before and doesn't want to get hurt again. Todd isn't giving up on her though, but breaking through the walls around Indy's heart is not going to be easy.

Total Control is the latest release in Pamela Britton's NASCAR series. It has all of the fun and romance found in the previous books, but Benjamin's battle with cancer adds some heart-wrenching moments that moved me to tears at times.

Total Control is a touching, romantic, and a heartwarming addition to a wonderful series.

I have always been a fan of romance books and NASCAR, so when the two came together, I couldn't wait. I loved Pamela's books to begin with, but now that both my favorties are together, I'm very happy. Great book!
