Never use another travel mug again March 18, 2010

This is the best purchase I've ever made in this category of items. I've been through a number of different travel mugs, but this one beats them all. I have a one hour commute to go to a 3-hour class, and this bottle keeps my coffee nice and hot long enough for me to enjoy it--and I'm a sipper. 3 hours of insulation is plenty, for someone like me! Previously, I had used other travel mugs which caused my coffee to become luke-warm or room temp in a fairly short period of time (especially on those cold Minnesota days). I had resorted to using an old Stanley thermos--which is great, but a little bit bulky to carry, even with that awesome handle attached to it.
I also purchased the cafe cap, which is a fantastic addition to this item. Sure, it's not leak proof, but I'm just glad the option exists. It would be so much more difficult to open and close my kleen kanteen if I had to use the loop cap all the time. With the cafe cap, I can open and close the lid with one finger. Although it would be nice if the cafe cap was leakproof, who needs that? It's not like I'm going to put my coffee in my bag for later consumption. If I'm going to do that, then I'll just use the loop cap, and bring my cafe cap with me.

this insulated klean kanteen is absolutely perfect. i never leave home without it and its my coffee mug at home too. This water bottle is absolutlely fantastic. The mouth is wide enough to fill it with ice cubes directly from my refrigerator ice dispenser. The temperature holds well for over 12 hours or more and the diameter of the bottle fits comfortably in my hand. I use it every day and wouldn't trade it for any other insulated bottle I've ever seen. Well worth the price.

Living in Seattle, you drink a LOT of coffee. Having gone through at least a dozen thermoses in the past, I've learned to take the hype of the label with a pinch of salt. If it claims to keep liquids hot for 6 hours, I would automatically adjust the actual time to 3. I learned to be realistic.
And then this Klean Kanteen came along. The main reason I bought it was for its stainless steel construction. Common sense dictated that years of drinking formerly scalding-hot liquids from a plastic container just couldn't be good for you - never mind all of the current trendy outrage against BPA in plastics. It looked sturdy, wasn't too heavy, and - big bonus - had interchangeable lids. And, while the $25 price tag was a little steep, I reasoned that it would hopefully be the last purchase that I would have to make.
So I bought the Klean Kanteen along with the cafe lid. All of the complaints about the are true, by the way. It is certainly not leakproof if tipped over completely, which is the only reason why it doesn't get a five-star rating. What it does do - amazingly - is: KEEP YOUR LIQUIDS WARM. FOR SIX HOURS. LIKE IT ADVERTISES. I made some tea leaving work one evening around 5, and it was still hot around midnight - despite the fact that I had the cafe lid on, with the sipping hole exposed to the outside air.
So that's it, friends. You can now commence to believe the hype for once. It's good for the environment, good for your hopefully soon-to-be-less-chemically-infused body, and good for keeping you warm full of hot liquids for hours. Not so good for your white shirts if you are a clumsy drinker, but hey. That would be TOO good to be true.

I am in love with this bottle! I just got it a few days ago but I've been using it non-stop. It keeps ice in my drink for hours, but the outside never sweats or makes your hands cold. I haven't tried yet to see how long it keeps my coffee hot, but I am looking forward to it. I have had no problems with the cafe cap leaking. I would definitely recommend this product.
